CASE STUDY
Industry: Power Generation
A major Gulf Coast compression company’s critical electric motor unexpectedly failed, creating an urgent need for a solution. This 75MW (100,000 HP) motor is one of the largest of its kind in the USA, weighing nearly 600,000 lbs fully assembled. This essential piece of equipment was originally set for an overseas factory overhaul, which would have extended the downtime by several months.

Objective
To conduct a comprehensive overhaul of the massive electric motor. Due to the motor’s size and importance, meticulous planning and execution were essential to minimize downtime and reduce costs.
Solution
Conhagen’s team carefully planned and executed the disassembly and mechanical on-site inspection near the customer’s operating location. By performing the overhaul on-site, the team significantly reduced the time and costs associated with overseas travel and factory overhaul.
The inspection and overhaul process included:
- Disassembly of the 75MW motor
- Detailed mechanical inspection of all components
- On-site repairs and replacements as necessary
- Reassembly planning for future implementation
Results
The on-site overhaul led to significant time and cost savings for the customer, reducing downtime for their critical equipment and overall operations. Conhagen’s expertise in executing complex projects, such as this one demonstrates their commitment to supporting clients anytime, anywhere. Stay tuned for the upcoming reassembly phase.
